A Writer’s Morning Routine

Wowza, this year has been something else.

We all started this year with different expectations than what we got, that much I’m sure.

I didn’t think that I’d have a baby right before a global pandemic would be declared. I was just starting to feel normal again the same week our Governor declared a stay-at-home order.

Perfect timing.

And now? The kids are in virtual school (which is a whole blog post on its own) and I’m in school. I’m working on finishing my degree. I’ve also got myself on a deadline for my revision on my Jaybird novel. My goal is to get it done before NaNoWriMo so I can work on my witch novel during that.

There aren’t enough hours in the day. Seriously.

So I’ve needed a routine, a schedule to help keep myself organized and on track.

My house is calmest in the morning before everyone has woken up so I’ve been getting up at 5:00 am. I’m not sure how because I’m still very much living in that new-mom-exhaustion but it is worth it.

The quiet helps me get things done.

What I work on depends day-by-day. If I’ve got a homework assignment needing to be done, I try to accomplish that first since I can work on my revisions throughout the day. I use Dabble Writer which is amazing and I can access it on my phone as well.
