If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I recently got hitched! I’m an official step-mom now and it’s been different than I thought it would be – in good ways and some not so good ways.
I consider myself lucky to have a step mom. She came into my life when I was eleven or twelve and I didnt feel grateful for her at first. But I grew to see that she loved me like I was her own, worked hard to help me achieve what I needed to and was always there for me. She wasn’t ever trying to replace my mom but she was an extra mom. A bonus mom.
I read a lot of books but you already knew that right? Since I started driving to work, I haven’t had as much time to read but my to-be-read pile has continued to grow. Even with less time, I have read some amazing books lately. Scroll down to see which ones I can’t stop talking about.
I read a total of 16 books in July! Thank you to my job for the downtown between boarding and deplaning. Some of the standouts were: #murdertrending, Something In The Water and I Do Not Trust You.
2017 is almost over. WOAH, wait a second – where did the year go? It’s crazy that 2017 is almost over and I’m kind of happy to say goodbye to this year.
The one question people keep asking me is: why did you move?
One month ago, I moved from Portland to SLC. Can you believe it? I’m pretty proud of myself because on Day 2, I was ready to throw in the towel.
Part of me relished this new found idea of being alone – being on my own. I got to put things exactly where I wanted them, without needing permission. I could buy something for my apartment and not worry about if anyone else would like it. I ate exactly what I wanted. I binge-watched hours of The Office without complaint from anyone else. I found joy in sleeping sprawled across my bed.
Someone recently told me that they admire my ability to say I’m going to do something and then to actually do it. This made me laugh because that hasn’t always been perceived as a strength.
but it has also been the best.
