Here’s my 2nd query tip!
It can be so tempting to want to get the actual sending part of the querying process over with but take it slow. Send out maybe 5-10 queries at a time and wait to hear back on those.
It can take a while to send even five queries right?
Why should you take it slow? Wouldn’t it be better to get your query letter in front of as many agents as quick as possible?
Let’s look at it a different way.
You send your query to 5-10 agents and get form rejection after form rejection. No requests – ouch! But that might be a good time to go back to your query letter. Take it as an opportunity to revise it, and make sure that your first pages and synopsis are matching up.
If you sent that query out to everyone on your list in a short span, you’d be losing out on this opportunity to revise your query letter.
